In the summer of 2010, a very special series of charters took place at Vancouver Airport’s South Terminal. Air North of Whitehorse based two of their Hawker Siddeley HS748s in Vancouver to operate four times weekly charters serving fishing resorts situated on BC’s west coast.
HS748s C-FCSE and C-FYDY were both based in Vancouver along with their crews to haul fisherman and their equipment and catch between Vancouver, Sandspit, Bella Bella and Denny Island.
The British built HS748 remains very popular in Canada, where this remarkable aircraft is prized for her versatility and ruggedness, and her ability to haul a full payload from a short gravel strip with greater range than her closest competitors. For these reasons the aircraft is ideally suited for the fishing charter market.
Filmed with broadcast video equipment from Vancouver’s South Terminal, the sights and sounds of this remarkable turboprop can be savoured in all their glorious, ear-piercing splendour.
After a brief introduction to the capabilities of 748, this DVD serves up heaps of non-stop, heart-pounding Rolls-Royce Dart engine action. It’s bound to put a smile on the face of any true, red-blooded propliner fan! The bulk of this DVD serves up one 748 departure after another. Who can ever grow tired of 748s winding up their Darts? Music to the ears for true propliner connoisseurs!
